Jacaranda Pizza makes the Chef's Journal!

ree

Hello, world! I'm Chef Blake, and I'm excited to write another blog post about one of the best Italian pizza and food restaurants—not just in Plantation, FL, but in all of Broward County! The fantastic place I'm talking about is Jacaranda Restaurant and Pizza.

This restaurant opened in 1978, founded bys Joe Mannino and a gentleman who goes simply by Nick. I discovered this gem while getting a haircut a few doors down at Andy's Barber Shop, where I've been a regular for the past two years. Living close to Jacaranda Pizza, I would often stop by for a slice of cheese pizza and a soda or water after my haircut.

Over the years, I decided to explore their menu more thoroughly and enjoy some of the most comforting and delicious Italian cuisine I’ve ever had. Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down and interview one of the key figures behind the scenes and the master of the pizza: Paul “Paulie” Mannino, who is Joe Mannino’s son.

During our conversation, I asked him a question that we both knew the answer to: What’s the secret behind the flavor? He understood I meant the red sauce! Paulie replied, “It’s all fresh ingredients and everything is homemade.”

Having experienced many culinary delights, I can confirm that fresh ingredients and homemade dishes made from scratch are what truly make a meal special. As a regular customer, I asked Paulie about the foot traffic and regulars at the restaurant, and he mentioned that they have quite a few devoted customers. He said, “We see people grow up here sometimes. People come and go, but we are always here to serve and always welcome.”

It's as simple as that: you get a great family environment with supportive staff and amazing food. They offer the best pizza and the most incredible garlic rolls. And for all you lasagna lovers out there, they have top-tier lasagna! The Chicken Parmesan is to die for. I truly enjoyed it. Another top seller is the chicken Giuseppe.

"A+ and two thumbs up!"
